Does anyone know how byeruns are selected. Do they go to the guy that shows up 2 times a year, to the guy with the nicest car or to the guy that lines up first??? Can anyone answer this question??? Believe it or not I can't!!!!!

I was told a long time ago that if you are one of the first ten cars to line up one of them will get the bye. They pick from a deck of cards A through 10 and then it all depends on where you line up and if your one of the first ten cars in line. If you watch top you'll see that Rod W. figured that out along with a few others, thats why they are always first to line up, better chance of getting the bye.

The bye run should always go to the racer with the best previous round reaction time. And for first round, the best average in the time runs. But what the hell do I know, I'm just a stupid bracket racer. Or just stupid, I don't know?

Best reaction should get the bye even if you got it earlier in the night.

Or for first rd. the winner from the week before gets the bye, it could be another perk for winning. Just a suggestion.

I agree with Jim, if you have the prevailing R.T. from the previous round, but already had a bye run, you should get it again. That would completely eliminate any type of questions being drawn or any type of accusations of favortism as well. Reward the better driver.

Ok Here is the lowdown on bye runs.
Lanes 2&3 are red cards
Lanes 4&5 are black cards
Lanes 2&4 are even cards
Lanes 3&5 are odd cards
All face cards are removed from the deck
Every one still with me ?
As Steve had mentioned only the first 10 cars lined up have a chance.
Now this is where it a little trickey, only the even number cars in 2&4 have a chance and the odd number cars in 3&5
Now that the secrets of the bye run have been exposed, you are each allowed to tell one other person and one person only. Ok

I still like lineing up almost last if not last, I could care less about a bye run, they're nice once in a while but I'll take one into the finals if I had a choice

But thanks for clearing the air....I knew I wasn't that far off, you pick up on things after 23yrs of racing....

Hey Rhino, you must be a rocket scientist you finaly figured it out. Danny someone should show Randy how the cards are picked so we have some consistency not one round were doing this the next we will do this and so on. Why can't we go off of best reaction time ??? It would be fare to all the racers!!!!!!

That would be great off reaction time....I know when we went to cordova for the finals it was always done like that......I think it would be pretty easy too, for the tower to do it by reaction...and it would be be the fairest way I can think of ...when you think about it its just obvious!!!

I asked Roger about doing by reaction times last year. His response was that it would be too much hassle. Personally I don't see how it would take more than a minute to figure out each round. And if we went with the previous weeks winner for the first round bye, what's so complicated about that? Then no one has to even go through and average the time runs. Best reaction time is really the only legit way to do it completely fair isn't it???????????

I agree with needing it to be consistant. It was Nikki Me and one other racer in the semi's. All three of us had the bye already so it was open to any of us. They were picking the bye all night with the cards and then it came to the semi's and the other racer got the bye from best reaction. That was an easy way to pick who they wanted to have it (not saying thats why but how do I know?). It needs to stay the same all night to be far!! Nikki had the bye the round before she had nothing to try to cut a light for. I would love to see it chosen by reaction time my father is always last in line and never has a shot. The reason he has to be last is because in our family alone there are four cars in that one class, we don't really want to take each other out. Not saying my dad would still have a shot but (HA,HA). It is great to earn what you get.
