i have a question, i have noticed every week there are a couple hot rod cars taking 3 to 4 timed runs each week, lining up in hod rod and top what are the rules on timed runs?? i understood there are 2 timed runs is that correct?? i am sure everyone would like to get 3 to 4 timed runs each week, the cars i have noticed taking the extra timed runs are in the top 10 in hot rod, there does not seem to be anything wrong with these cars but they are round robin running!! can someone clarify the rules for timed runs??

Just because the cars don't seem to have a problem to you, doesn't mean they don't. Not to mention the rules are as Roger sees. If someone goes up and asks for another run, and Roger says yes, there's no problem. Unless of course you have a issue with it??? And if you do, I suggest you talk to Roger about it. Let me put it to you this way, we race all summer to try and end up in first place, we've all got alot on the line each week. We all want to make it the best race day we can. Maybe if you were in the top 10, you'd understand.

Just to hit one more point on this issue-I also run at Byron Dragway. There, if you run in the box class on Sundays and you don't get a run because of car troubles or you get to the track a little late, tough!!!! You go into first round with a complete guess on your dial in. They don't give anybody a break-PERIOD! Is that what you'd like to see at our home track weekly? Actually, I'm quite grateful that Roger is good enough to run a pretty laid back program. Everybody has something they can come up with to gripe about, but when all is said and done, we have it pretty good where we're at!!

I have noticed the racers who take extra runs week after week, the same 2 or 3 cars,I'm sure all the guys running hot rod know who they are. Some may be asking for a run, some are just lining up with top or street and just take runs without asking. I have been a regular racer for 13 years and I can count on one hand the number of extra runs I asked for, when I had a GENUINE problem with my car. Roger gives every racer the benefit of the doubt,I believe he would rather hand out extra passes to a few racers who don't need them than deny one to someone who really needs one. It is a privilege to get these these extra runs when really needed,if too many racers abuse it,we may see it go away. If I took one extra pass every week I would have such an overwhelming advantage over the other racers,it would no longer be challenging, taking the fun out of it,this is sportsman racing, for fun,we should be on an equal footing,as for those guys who take that extra one or two passes every week, whatever trophy you get will have an asterisk* attached to it,OH YEAH that's the guy who took all those extra passes every week

Freddy-are you actually that full of yourself that you think if you took and extra two passes every week, you think you would just rip everybody up huh? Go for it!!! My best advice to thow cryin babys is-shut the h3ll up and RACE!!! If you think making a extra pass is going to make you a super stud Freddy, should we ban those little practice trees??? I mean come on man, that's a way to practice the tree. I don't care if I have to run a guy that's gotten 20 runs to my 2. Dial it(right) cut a light and win the race. If that's too much for you, throw your dam diaper back on, lay down in your crib, and suck on your bottle.

And for those of you that don't like me because I open my mouth, you should try it sometime. When you speek the truth, people know who you really are. Pardon me if I don't wisper those same little comments you all make to others in hiding. The key to that whole cenario is this- Don't listen to HOW I'm saying it-Listen to WHAT I am saying. You may walk away with a different opinion.

Has anyone noticed that the car count is down? If any fewer cars show up, it'll only be the top 10 in each class at the track each week. While raceday procedures allow for each racer to have two practice runs, to help dial their cars and assure they are running up to their capability, one or two extra runs don't give anyone a distinct advantage. In fact other than tree practice it may be a disadvantage. Dial you car in the heat and run it when it cools down, now those extra hot practices really helped; not. You racers complain when there aren't practice nights to test the car. Then on test and tune complain that the track in poorly prepped and on and on and on. Maybe you should be awarded the win for just showing up. Having the staging lanes full during practice in my opinion helps keep the track consistant, helps keep the few spectators interested and allows the competition to watch and evaluate how the other competition is running and how to race them. Oh ya, that might be a disadvantage by taking additional practices if others are paying attention. Either way you slice it, most of us don't race for a living. We will never make enough to pay for all the expenses let alone the car and trailer. I know of racers who did make extra runs and tried changing jets etc. Let's all have fun, be safe and enjoy ourselves; after all its beats working. Thanks Roger and everyone else who works at the track for your devotion to keeping it up for us to enjoy.

Rick you crack me the fock up! LOL... dont let up. Even if your wrong keep your foot in it :)

As for car counts - hard for me to say as I havent been a regular there for many years, even living in the area I usually went to Byron and ran for 2 days rather than just one. I think that could help but WIR has been running just on Saturdays for so long it may never take off. I do like the format this year and I would have been to a few more but have an engine rebuild going on which is taking me out for the season again.

Also allowing cars to double enter may increase car counts some.

LOL... never said you were wrong... just saying on that once instance you "may" be....still dont let up.

I can tell ya I do truly miss racing at WIR on a regular basis. Everyone knew everyone, would help everyone on a drop of a hate. The IHRA divisional circuit was like that for the most part, although some with the 500K worth of race equiptment may act like they are better than most (probably better than me anyways) most were pretty decent.

What ever happened to the first hour being free runs? I think that was always a good idea, if you had issues you got there early and worked to get a few runs in. I know Roger and Randy were always good to me about getting an extra run when needed... like the time I changed and rebuilt a motor in the gravel pits over night :)

I know you didn't say I was wrong Kevin, I was just playin with ya man And your right Kevin, Roger runs a pretty laid back track, just like I mentioned earlier. Don't get me wrong, I love racing at Byron and other tracks, but there's no place like home. Think about ALL the familys and generations of kids that literally grew up at that track. If you think about it, it really is amazing!! And to be 100% honest with you, there isn't a single person that races there that I wouldn't try to help if they really needed it. I am obviously serious about winning, but it has to be about the true enjoyment of what we do. Hell, my race car is the nicest thing I'll probably ever own.Even with a difference in opinions on some things, everybody that races and runs WIR really are a great bunch of people!!!!

you can't have racing without rules,I follow the rules,95% of the racers follow the rules. I am on their side, which side are you on? This question is rhetorical, just food for thought, not a poll
