I heard that Byron Dragway is going to switch back to NHRA along with the Grove and Norwalk. Has anyone else heard about this?

| IHRA had developed a reputation for accommodating the sportsman racer and the little guy but a lot has changed since Bill Bader left. We've traveled around a little this year and noticed more motorhomes and large trailers showing up at the tracks which means more parking space. Another issue has been an increase in track safety updates because of insurance reasons. Both of these take $$$ to accomplish.(read NHRA). It would be interesting to hear what the track owners have to say. Just my .02. |

| I didnt hear about those other tracks before Todd. Wow man, where do you think thats going to eventually leave us hanging? From what I understand from the past is that Bill Bader revamped IHRA and turned it around. Looks like now that he left maybe NHRA is going to be the more powerful sanctioning body again????? |

| I would assume if Byron switches back over, they will eventually switch Cedar Falls over too. |

| I have not heard anything about Byron switching sanctioning bodies, but I did hear that Ron and B.J. sold their portion in the Cedar Falls track. (50%) One thing I have always noticed is Grove and Byron seem to do things together so it wouldn't surprise me if Byron would change. They swithed to IHRA at the same time as the Grove. At that time Bill Sr. sold a good story about how good it would be to hold Pro Ams etc., and we know how that turns out for the track owners. I guess NHRA dangled a big carrot in front of the Grove that they could not refuse. I don't think having the IHRA D5 ET Finals at Martin helped either. |

The way I understand it, da grove wanted to have the Div.5 finals at their track this past fall. Maybe because it didnt happen, theyre a bit sore about it and in that case it probably wouldnt take a whole lot of coaxing to get them to go back to NHRA. Besides, is that really a bad idea??? Having to go to Martin for the finals was enough of a change, but to make us do two 1/8 mile races in a row was a crock So what are your opinions of IHRA vs. Nhra at this point? |

there was the question of Byron in the last copy of Drag Illustrated I got about two weeks ago. They said the rumors about Byron were out there. I have noticed IHRA has not posted the divisional schedule yet. |

| GLD has been preparing for this for a while. All the work they've been doing has been to get up to NHRA specs (concrete retaining walls, etc). It has nothing to do with being sore about Division bracket races that don't make any money anyway. |

I suppose they dont make any money on Div. finals. The concessions must all be free. I wish I wouldve known that!!!Besides, maybe the Grove shouldve had more saftey features before instead of worrying simlpy about meeting "any" Associations requirments. Actually, real men bracket race!! |

"MORE TRACKS JUMP SHIP" From the November Drag Illustrated...."In a seemingly intelligent move, several tracks in the Midwest have changed sanctioning bodies from IHRA to NHRA. Only days after the Div. 5 ET finals, a flood of emails and calls came into the DI offices concerning the poor operation of the event and lack-luster results. Shortly after we received those reports, our connections at several Div. 5 tracks contacted us about their move to NHRA. At this rate there may not be a Div. 5 in '07. Stay tuned as the IHRA Sportsman program continues to deteriorate and NitroJam becomes the primary focus." DI |

| Darrell WIR must be switching to because of the inprovements they have done in the past 2 years! Last year they paved roads in the pits. This year a NEW 3 feet tall concrete retaining wall from the finish line down to the turn off on the return road side[ all ready installed]. This spring they will be moving the guard rail on lane 2 side closer to the track. |
