Dont the new track shirts say "Saturday nights are for drag racing". Nights, not afternooons. They would have to get all new shirts made. This last season they were complaining we werent buying enough beer from the track. There will be a whole lot less sold if the races are done by 8:00-9:00.

I liked the 5- 5:30 starting times like we've had this past summer. These starting times also work well for the specials. Since there are now buy backs, second round lasts as long as first round. This pushes us to around the 7-7:30 time area which is when families are settling in for the Jets, etc. Like what was said earlier is Saturday Nights for Racin'! Night racing is way more cool than any day race.
Delay box checks??? Where did this come from? Has there been complaints from drivers about strange goings on?

Just one thing from me right now, will address other issues after I have talked to Roger. We never complained that you weren't buying "enough beer" from the track. The problem is people bringing their own beer over to the beer stand, instead of buying it there. Beer is suppose to remain in the trailers until the races are over. No beer in the pits during a race, remember. We were just asking people to support the concession stands. That is not complaining, just asking for some support. And I guess I do have one more thing, where were all these comments in the last post when people were talking about time changes? I have to look back, but I don't remember seeing anything negative about a time change. Now I'd like to hear from the people in support of the time changes...

You didnt hear from us because how many time has a suggestion on here gone anywhere? Never! For some reason this one did and this one went fast. Do you know how many racers dont even look at this website? What about them and their opinion? I am against the change because the way it was, I could spend time with my wife and daughter and/or get stuff done around the house in the morning.I work second shift now and the only time I see my wife is on the weekend. Now Saturday is screwed! I'mgoing to have to decide if racing every week or my family is more important to me.

In the end, the track has to do what is best for the track. It is a buisness. If it will bring more racers, spectators and money in then go for it. If it is just something that a few people want and in the long run will hurt buisness, why would you do it? I was just trying to make a point with the beer thing. Should have done it different. Sorry.

I am for the time change. Although night racing is cool and fun to watch, it will make for better, and safer, late round racing. The track starts to go away once the sun goes down and last year we had multiple occassions where a driver had to "give a race up" because of either loose track or dew on their window. this wouldnt happen if we were finishing earlier.

I am sure not all racers look here for major rules changes. This started out as a suggestion about starting a little earlier on Sat. nights. Most on the original post seemed to agree with the idea. Then WIR posted the proposed change and the other shoe fell. Most on the topic seem against the idea. Maybe a little tweaking is needed. As the new time is, we are only about 2hrs. different than Sunday shows. Maybe moving the times back 1 to 1 1/2hrs. would help some who have to work. Start the races at 4;30 instead of 3;00. We would still be done by 9;30 to 10;00 most nights. That way on specials like the jets at least the final rd. would be fairly dark. Just my 2 Cents. Thanks for your time. "Burmie"

I enjoy racing on Saturday nights rather than afternoons. Maybe look into starting earlier on special events. Chad

What was the main purpose for bumping the start time up? Safety?

Bottom line is your never gonna make everyone happy, but I do have to agree with WIRTOWER and ask why none of the negative comments were mention when this topic came up a few week ago.

My dad works almost every saturday until 11 or noon, and we'll have to try like hell to make it to the first session....but....we'd rather have one time run than have to lift 4th round becuase the track is covered with dew!!! Or we can't see out of our helmet!!!
Last year we had the one race that we ran 4th round at 1 in the morning. Thats crazy!! Everybody always says how great Byrons track is....well, along with great track prep, they ALWAYS race in the DAYLIGHT.
We are obviously for the time change.

People keep bringing up the Chicago Wise Guys race. This argument is weak. It wouldnt have mattered what time we started. It rained all day, it should have been rained out, and we didnt start racing until after 9:00. Of course you will be there until 2:00 in the morning. The couple of nights that dew was a problem, were the last 2 Saturday night races in September. The temp dropped into the 40's as soon as the sun went down. And one of those nights it was so foggy on my way home, I could only do 40 mph. My suggestion would be have a couple of more Sunday races at the end of the year. 4 intead of 2.

lol....you'd have to change the shirt to "racing is for sundays" then. I didn't really want to get into a tizzy, my take is just that it's much safer and the track will be much more reliable if we're racing under sunlight.

Lol! I like that! No tizzy here. I usually dont post anything on message boards because people say I have an angry or mean tone in them. Thats why I didnt originaly post anything when the change was suggested. Then the change was made and I had to speak up. Im not mad or in a tizzy. Just wanted the facts straight.

I am alll for an earlier start. The track will be safer in later rounds and we wont be pulling in the driveway at 1:00am or later.
