Roger and I spent some time on the phone this morning and here are the changes for 2010.
*Saturday racing: Gates open at 10am, qualifying at 12pm, Car and Driver gate closes at 2pm, Racing at 3pm. If you are not entered before the C&D gate closes, you may do a late entry, but with conditions. If your class has already run their last qualifying session, you will not get a time run. If your class has not yet run, you will run with them and get only one time run. If you arrive before C&D closes, and your class has already run the second time run, you must bring your car up in lane 2 ASAP. There will be no time runs after top has finished, unless you talk to roger or me and it is a legitimate problem, no exceptions. *Sunday racing times will remain the same. *Hot Rod: Each week 2 cars will be randomly pulled and checked for delay boxes. This will be done as you pull off the track on the big end. Your car will then be checked. Any violations will call for immediate disqualification, loss of entry fee, loss of prize money for the event, loss of all points earned for the season, and a $500.00 fine, payable to the points fund. You may not refuse to be checked. This will be done at random, we are not targeting anyone. If we feel the need, we will pull more than 2 cars. *Street class: If we think it is necessary, we will do the same thing for you to check for delay boxes, with the same consequences. *We will take a few minutes at the banquet to discuss these changes so everyone is aware. They will also appear in the flier. Please pass it on though to drivers not on the internet.
Let the comments begin!

| Yes, this will also be the case for special events. There will be Sundays. Gates open at 7:30, time runs at 9:00, C&D gate closes at 11:00, racing at noon. Actually there is a change and that is the C&D gate closing at 11:00..it used to be noon. |

| So basically what your saying is that everything is moved up 2hrs earlier on Saturday races? Sounds just fine to me. Also great idea on the random inspections too! John. |

My wife and I have participated in every event for the last 3 years. We work untill 12:00 or 12:30 on Saturdays. By the time we drive there and unload it is 1:45 or 2:00 pm. I hope there is SOME latitude with the time runs, or we will be forced to not participate. I am not suggesting you change anything especially for just us, but hoping there will be some give and take here. Otherwise we will not be able to participate, and we really enjoy the great people, racers and competition at WIR.
Thanx for listening. |

I know a few people that are not so fortunate and have to work on some saturdays, me being one of them, If i am lucky enough i can get my partner to come in a few hours early and i would always be able to make it in time usually making my second pass with top elim, as of now I guess i will not be able to make it to 6 of the races because of this.

| I really hpoe the time change isnt finalized until you talk to everyone at the banquet. It seems to me there has only been a few people on here wanting the change. The topic may have been looked at 700 times or whatever, by the same 10 people. Would starting at our old time cause people to stop coming....no. Would starting earlier stop people from coming....yes. With the ecocnomy the way it is and racer turnout down the way it is, I dont know if I would mess with anything. |
Sure it's street legal...... |

Ha! Seems to me I gave you the box that came with my Mav. I know you didn't use it though, 'cause you didn't win! ;) |

Im not happy with the new start time.I work every other weekend and get added often for others on vacation.I work until 3 on Saturdays, and as it was,I barely made a pass before the break! If the start time stays at 3,I will not be able to run my bike and will have limited races in the dragster! I just wanted to give my two cents. Thanks Rick |

Todd,I talked a few that didnt like it either.I think a vote at the banquet sounds like a great idea? Maybe close entries at 4pm instead of 5pm and start soon after? Wirtower- any chance of a vote or is this the way its gonna be for sure? |

| Sounds like this would throw a big wrench in the spokes of alot of our regular racers. NOT GOOD people!!!! Not good at all!!Would it help if you just moved up the time for special events so spectators don't have to stay until midnight with thier 10 year old kids to watch the last pair of weenie roasters go down the track? I agree that it would be nice to eliminate the oportunity for the "very few" racers that abuse the lastminute time runs, but alot of our people have to work weekends and don't have a choice--why deplete our already low numbers??? |

| i to have to work til noon on some saturdays.would be tight to get there and run 2 times unless there was some leway.are we tring to get done be 7:30-8:00? how would we run the weenie roasters in the dark then? your always gonna have the unexpected downtimes!starting earlier will just make us there longer on some nites.i like the random check idea.also i'm in favor of a vote! just my 2 cents, dan |
